Child car seat install

Post by Theduke »

Does anyone have suggestions on a better way to put child seats in a Grand Wagoneer. Obviously there are no hooks for the clips like modern vehicles. I can install one seat in the middle with the manual lap belt with enough tension but the 2nd seat is loose when using the auto retracting seat belts at the doors.
Open to suggestions thanks.

one I had to install mine, I added a metal loop under the bolts for the center middle rear seat belt anchor points to match the seat anchor, of course that was the BC era ... (before cable)

There are many aftermarket bolt down loop setups you can buy/install.

I STRONGLY recommend replacing the stock rear seat lap belts with shoulder belts as well.
Much much safer, and the SJ is not a very safe vehicle.

Nov. 2019 my 9yr old was in backseat when some idiot turned right in front of me(driving my 88 GW).
Had I not upgraded to bucket seats & shoulder belts in back she very likely would have been injured?
