NP208 and 241 question

Post by racerx12003r1 »

Hey folks. Been a while since I was on here. Got a question to run by to see if anyone has this info, because I'm coming up with 0 in my search. My old iron has the factory T177/NP208 hooked to a 5.3 Vortec. Recently, I came across a 92 or 93 K3500 with the SM465/NP241 combo. My 208 has the fixed output yoke. My question is, will the fixed shaft and housing replace the slip yoke shaft as a bolt for bolt swap? I've found several SYE kits, but if I can just change the back half, why not. Thanks for any input.

Sadly no. The 208 case is different from a 241's.

However, pretty sure that wont be an SM465. It should be an NV4500.

I wish it was a NV4500, but it's definitely a SM465. It's one of the aluminum top versions. When I saw the ad for it, I jumped at it like a bat out of hell. $250 for the transmission and transfer. Thanks for the help Stuka.

Ahh bummer. I didn't even know they had kept using the 465 that far into the 90's. Must have been a more base model truck.
