Just put a brand new Holley 90670 on my 401 and I got it running but about all it does well is idle. When I go to take off from idle I get a lot of backfiring thru the exhaust and not much power. Only thing I adjusted on the carb were the jets for my elevation.
Any idea what the culprit might be? Timing is good.

Ended up having 8&4 swapped on the distributor. Problem solved
