So I have an ‘81 Cherokee and one of the POs dropped in a 350, adapted a 727, and mated it to what looks like the original 219 transfer case (the tag on the case is missing).
I’m planning to replace the tranny and t-case with a 700r4 and a 231c. I have no idea if they modified the mounts or crossbar, or had to move the exhaust or parking brake cable. From all the reseach I’ve done, it looks like the new equipment should fit right in the space available. Of course I expect to have At least the Rear driveshaft shortened.
Has anyone done a swap like this (350, 700, 231) in a FSJ Cherokee or Wagoneer?
Any insights or advice is welcome. Especially if you have pictures!
