TH400 to Toyota Asco transfer case conversion

Post by Trosskyll »

** Sorry all - I posted this then realised it should have gone into the modified tech section ** :banghead:

...and I don't know why my images are posting sideways...

I wondered if this was of interest to anyone here...
On another online forum, I had a request for more info on a conversion that replaced the Quadratrac BW1339 to Toyota ASCO transfer case in my 1976 Cherokee Chief.

It looks like the only simple thing about this conversion is the fact that the output shaft drop is on the same side - passenger drop for the USA.

:!: Things that needed to be changed. :!:

TH400 output shaft swapped out for a multi spline shorter one

Wow, a whole lot of work. Congrats to whoever did it.

Hey, I can move the thread to Modified FSJ Tech section if you want though it is also a part of your build so either could apply.

Moved this to Modfied FSJ tech. But if you are going to do a full build thread too, feel free to add these posts to that as well. Really can work in either area.

Its a neat conversion. But seams like a ton of work to put that t-case in there considering other, much cheaper options that are available.

Thank you for moving it Stuka. This is the section I prefer it to be, as I have taken it out of my Chief in order to put the QT back in.

Here are some images of the modified T.Case support cross member.

And the critical dimensions taken from the cross member - metric as that is what we work with here :P

Very few people take the time to post those kinds of details. Very cool thing to do :)
