Center Console.

Post by 69gladiator »

I’d like to replace the fold down armrest in my 82 Cherokee with a floor mounted console. Is there something lurking in a junkyard that will fit? I seem to recall that one out of a late 80s Blazer will work but I can’t confirm that.

Men in Black (Screen Name) has made some nice ones. Also the console from a cab 'N a Half Dodge Dakota will accept the metal mounting flanges from your stock arm rest console.

I used an 03-08? Exploder console in mine. Plenty of those in boneyards with their crap transmissions.

If you want something secure, these work nice. The 8" wide fits well.

I pulled one out of an older Suburban, fit perfectly. It had a compartment for CDs but I found a replacement on Amazon or Ebay that made two cup holders. The whole assembly breaks down easy and runs through the dishwasher for easy clean-up.

Just out of curiosity, approximately what years are these older suburbans?

I read somewhere that early 90s fit. I was hoping someone used one and could confirm that it fit.

This is what I used on my truck. 60 shipped. I just reused the brackets from the original seat.

I used a factory CJ center console. It fits well and the height is very comparable to the original FSJ arm rest, but i have the bonus of added storage. It's difficult to see in the pic (please don't mind the child seat), but the CJ console angles just right to flow with the low back seats and the cup holders are actually level. I'm not sure if it's a "forever" option, however, it is functional. Not sure if there are a lot of those style CJ consoles floating around, but it is one option.

Can you take a few pictures of your console for us? Curious to see how it mates up to the dash in the front.
Thanks

Really Nice Waggy dodgerammit!! Great work! My Chief has the factory under dash AC, so I'd like to see how the Console meets up with your AC unit.
Sweet ride!
