1988 GW L83 electrical help

Post by Crowlejo1 »

I'm new here, but I've been lurking around a bit. I switched from CJ's to FSJ's a few years back. My stock Wagoneer crapped out on me after almost 250k miles. I had the bright idea to do an L83/6l80 swap since it was somewhat cheaply acquired. Everything is in now. I'm completely hung up on wiring the Bussman fuse panel and I can't seem to find info/diagrams on it anywhere without people trying to sell me their harnesses. Has anyone here done this, and would you be willing to share info? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Josh

Welcome to the forum.

I have not done this myself. But people I know often go for one of the 'cleaned up' harnesses that remove all the stuff that is not needed for the swap. But there got to be info out there on what stuff this is. LS swaps are so common they are boring at this point.

What year?

Tons info online for diy stand alone if you're capable.
I've done many many older harnesses.

Here's first google hit using "l83 stand alone"

It's a 2016. I used that diagram for some of it. I'm just hung up on how to cram it all into that small Bussmann panel. I'm guessing solder wires of similar amperage together?

Yeah, pair them up and solder together. It's kind of preference/how you wired things up.

Here is a pic of the backside of one I did a while ago...
You can kinda see how the wires "Y" (splice) together.
