Seats?

Post by trellis8 »

Can anyone suggest a fairly straight forward front seat swap? Looking to change the broken down front seats in my Waggy. Thanks.

I have 91 explorer seats in my J20 mounted to manual seat bases, only having to re drill the seat bottoms to match the mounting holes. Pretty simple actually, even for a girl :-P

So, you pretty much need to install different seats on existing bases? If that's the case I need to find a set of manual bases. Thanks!

Dakota/Durango seats bolt to the factory bases, power or manual. I will be putting a set or Durango R/T seats in my '71 using factory manual bases/sliders.

Blinkinglighta...

Great looking sets ya have in ya Jeep

Could you not find the tan covered seats to match your door panels or did you just not care about a perfect match?

I have the same tan interior you have on your door panels...

Also was your factory seat/seats a bench or 2 buckets?

If it was a bench did you have one seat mount for the bench or was it 2 individual mounts?

Thanks in advance for reply

We installed '02 Grand Cherokee seats without too much fuss. We had to modify the stock GC brackets and build some small angle iron mounts. The color match is pretty close, and the wiring for the power functions was straight forward, although we didn't try and wire in the heaters...

They sit a tad tall, but are still comfortable...

I used 04 grand Cherokee leather seat, too. In my truck... I had super wagoneer bucket seat brackets that were a straight bolt in for the floor, but had to re drill holes on the upper part.

Image

In the panel, I used 96 mustang convertible seats. The drivers side needed no mods at all, but the passenger side need a bracket I had to make out of leftover 1/4" thick, 3/4" wide flat stock steel.

They're not bolted down yet in the panel, as I am still working on the interior.

I would recommend either seat option.

How far forward do any of these seats fold? My Cherokee has had the seats replaced and they are pretty cruddy looking! I'd like to find something better but need something that folds forward as far as possible to let the kiddos in back.

1991-1999 Ford Explorer Sport seats will fold forward and slide at the same time.

The Cherokee seats don't fold down, but the mustang seats do as they came from a two door convertible.

Ours will go pretty far forward, but they're power only, so you're not going to move them in a hurry...

Anyone used the seats from a new wrangler? I lost track of the initials of them after TJ... Maybe the JK?

I don't know to convert the sizes of pics from Facebook onto this network, I tried playing with photo bucket but it's confusing to me. I have the same user name on FB as on this site. If you know Flint or rstep (Bob) I am on their friendslist as CherokeeJim
