My '79 J10 needs a new AC condenser. I've converted to R134a. I'd like to get a new condenser rated for R134a, is there such a thing? Do late model Waggies use 134a? If so will the condenser fit my '79?
Not an expert, but my understanding is the compressor changes fro R134a, not the condensor. I suggest, if you can't research this topic yourself, reach out to a company like Vintage Air (among others) that specialize in updating vintage air conditioning. https://www.vintageair.com/catalog/

Looking quickly at the VIntage Air site, it appears that R134a nominally takes a larger condensor than the obsolete Rwhatever.
If I were interested in using a GW condensor, I would check the TSMs on the Tom Collins site. They would likely tell you what type of refrigerant each year uses, and you could narrow your choice of GW condensor to a specific year and later. The core support for all these vehicles is the same, and the radiator mounting does not change, AFAIK. Any year condensor should fit in the space, as long as you move the brackets and surrounding accessories to fit.

I'd put the biggest one I could fit and afford. Assuming the design is the same. Can't have too much condenser.

Ive converted two J-trucks to 134. I replaced the compressors with OEM York re-builts--that's why the old AC wasnt working. I didnt do anything regarding the different gas. Didn't change the oil type, condenser, evaporator--only the fittings to charge it and 6 years later they are still working fine.
On mine, the plastic around the evaporator and AC fan is missing, otherwise it's all there. Considering whether I should replace everything new or just fit a hot rod evaporator housing.
