I posted this in my build thread, but those don't get alot of views. Anyway, do I really need the rubber strips inside the inner fender? They barely stick out past the inner fender, so I am not sure that they actually serve much purpose.

Are you referencing the rubber-ish strip along the inner fender up front? Without it, all sorts of road grime and dust will get up into there. And I bet it would also rattle. So, I would retain it. if it was me.
The material is called masticated rubber. If you Google it, you can find it or find more information on it. I agree with Stuka. I would replace it. On mine I took the old pieces out and used them as templates to create new ones.
I appreciate the help. The rubber on mine is actually in good shape, I will probably just make new ones. Just wanted the opinions if the were really needed. I guess I have my answer

@runuover86gw pointed me to the masticated rubber and a supplier on east coast (don't recall name right now) when I was trying to find replacements. I did some research and it's the right stuff.
Like Stuka said, keep what you have for templates. I did and my pieces came out great. Now I just have to figure out how to staple them back in. I've checked with body shops and nobody has a sheet metal staple gun any longer.

Thanks for the suggestion Yeller. I may give them a try and the price is right. I should have enough overlap and if not, can cut a few wider strips as I have left over material.

That's it. I have so many mails and was having a hard time finding it.
I didn't see a cost optimal size on his site so called him, told him was I was looking for and he cut me a piece that worked. 1' x 6' I think. Saved me from having to buy a larger piece and waste.

Yeah, I looked at your link and the quantities are too much. Nice that the proprietor will sell smaller quantities.
I'd think you could use the ice and water shield sold to seal roofs and around doors and windows of buildings. Same sort of sticky sheet material, and available in reasonable quantities at the big box hardware stores. Or find a junk inner tube, cut out strips, and glue them in place. 3M 77 spray, or weatherstrip cement, or contact cement, would work fine.
