Assembly manuals

Post by Horsman »

Does someone offer an assembly manual for the 79 Wagoneer? I have used these in the past for previous GM product restorations and they are a big help.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to find what you need here: https://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html

There is a '79 TSM free to read and download on that site. That's the shop manual. Not sure what you mean by an "assembly manual." I'd expect there does not exist the kind of documentation and parts support that you might find for the popular old passenger cars.

You mean the factory parts book? You can buy a print copy that covers 1979 from BJs. https://www.bjsoffroad.com/1974-1980-Je ... _1043.html They will give you a modest discount as a member of this forum. May also be available on CD-ROM at RockAuto or Faxon.

The parts books on the Tom Collins site (see Stuka's post) do not cover 1979. '62-73, or '81-up only, AFAIK.

Assembly manuals were used when the vehicle was built. It shows how things are assembled when new, including torque specs and part numbers, etc.

I have never seen an assembly manual for any Jeep. We even have people here that worked in the Jeep/AMC factory, and I have not seen them mention such a thing.

But we do have TSM's, which show how to replace/rebuild just about everything.

The latter FSJs have a metal tag on the valence, passenger side by the hood bumper which has stamped numbers, it seems to be an assembly tag.
