Did my 79 Cherokee with 4.2 come originally with a fan shroud? This unit is SUPER low miles and has 99% of every part, including trim, but no fan shroud. Thanks!
I actually just came across the old shroud for my old J10 (also a 4.2L). It was an 81, but it should work on your '79 also. I am not sure what it would cost to ship, as its big, though super light. But I would happily give it to you for the price of the ride.
I do know the very bottom part is missing, but the rest of it is pretty decent. There was more than one fan size available, so would need to know the diameter of yours to verify this one would work.
The fan shroud was supplied with the heavy duty cooling (HDC) package. This was optional on a '79 with the 258. Different fan 4 blade vs. 7, different radiator too.

Usually. Not always.

Makes sense. My base model Wide Track which was super original, super low miles had none, and a small 4 blade fan. I upgraded the fan to a newer larger clutch fan unit, but left it without a shroud. It keeps plenty cool in SW Arizona temps without issue. I may just leave it alone.
