thanks i think I found one in Pa. if it doesn't work out I will try them.

I might have a bead on some. If I have time I will try and pull it. The J truck in question has a brow on it, if that gives you an idea of year.

Okay now that I have the trim I have a question.....does the trim screws go into the metal frame or just the rubber gasket. I can't seem to find holes in the frame. Thanks.

When i took the trim off a 87 the screws went into the pillar and the gasket i believe. I think ive heard this is the hardest part of putting a new gasket on is lining the screws gasket and trim up properly

Called the company today that sold me the trim. They told me which screws to get. Thanks

Can you please post the size screws that are used to hold the window trim on. I need this info. Thanks in advance!!! Also if you figure out a way to install the trim and give us a few pointers, it would be greatly appreciated.

I plan on doing it this weekend so will keep you posted. Screw info was slightly vague. 1/2 inch coarse thread. Philips head. Best info I could get from them.

well I am back. struggling a little with lining up the holes and also getting the top strip trim in. does any one know the sequence of order for installing the trim? also I bought number 10 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch to be on the safe side. ( just in case I bought the wrong ones.) back to the grindstone tomorrow.

time for the professionals. the trim is older than I thought. windshield is leaking. Safelite on Wednesday

Not a bad choice. For the board's education do you mind sharing how much professional installation runs? It was my 1st windshield install, total pain!

That is the one insurance option I get on all of my vehicles no matter how bare-minimum the coverage. Glass coverage is super cheap and worth every penny. It could be new off the lot or an old turd, but a rock could crack it the next day.

I live in north Ga. for them to come to me was 465 plus 60 because I live so far away. (2 hrs). that includes new gasket, windshield, removal and installation. also re-jnstalling my trim. If I lived closer it would be a $30 charge. So I have to drive to Cumming Ga for the install. not a problem. I will try and add a photo after completion. I go this wednesday.

Ok here we go. Drove 1.5 hours to Cumming, Ga this morning for the install. When I arrived I was told a few things that I did not know before getting there. 1. if the truck windshield area is rusted and they cannot install the windshield...too bad. I would have to drive home without a windshield and get body work done. 2. for the work they did there is not a warranty. I will explain. my window was fine with exception of the gasket. so they removed window and gasket, installed new gasket and replaced my old windshield. and installed the trim. total time was about 3.5 hours. trim was the hard part. cost was $200.00. which was great as far as I am concerned. Safelite did the install. WARNING...when I called Safelite to set up the appt I was told that they don't do "only gasket replacement". But this place did so you might want to go in person to your nearest installer. or call. I tried to add a photo but I am old school so please forgive me.

So it just screws into the rubber?

no. there is a metal piece that runs underneath the gasket. about a quarter inch wide. those have the holes in them that the screws go in.

Can you just drill into the windshield frame and use longer screws? Mine never had the trim, this is an add-on. Started attempting the install recently again and got the bottom in, but the screws are only into my gasket and don't feel secure.

when I removed my windscreen for the restoration, the screws on the side trim were going through the lip the gasket covers in the body, the middle screw bottom center did not. so when re-installing, I will make sure it lines up to those holes again, and be generous with the 3M caulk that needs to be between the body and gasket, and the window and gasket.
