Gear Indicator Light

Post by Jeepin' Pete »

I've been changing out my turn signal switch, and curious where the power for the little bulb that lights up the transmission selector (PRND) comes from. The ground bolts to a metal plate on the column, but the other wire running up to that bulb is not connected to anything.

This post makes it seem like that wire should go in that turn signal switch connector, although this is on a late 70's Cherokee: viewtopic.php?t=6207

In the wiring diagram, the turn signal switch connector looks like this, which I've confirmed is the way mine is currently:

So where does the power come from?
Thanks in advance!

Is that a grey wire you are referring to? If so I just replaced my turn signal switch and I found it odd the new one had 10 wires but the old one had 11

After further inspection the grey wire has a pin and is the 11th wire so I has to pull it and then put it back into the new switch.

Hope that helps see the attached picture Image

Ignore the white cable, I tied that around the harness to pull it through the column

Hope this helps
