Fuel lines.

Post by Locked and Loaded »

I am trying to replace the two fuel return lines from the cannister to the hard lines behind the engine. How are you guys getting to the ones behind the engine? Seems they built the Jeep around them.

Just reach down and bust/cut the factory crimp/clamps with sharp flathead screwdriver or good side cutters.
If can't see them use a little mirror.

They're just vapor hoses no liquid fuel, but fuel hose will last longer than emissions hose. Regular vacuum hose won't last well @ all.

+1 to babywag's rec. I had to replace mine, but the windshield was out, so it was possible to come over the dash. They are crimped on, so screwdriver and pry, or use a dremel and carefully cut. Used hose clamps to reattach, and picked up some non-fuel injected rated fuel hose from the auto parts store.

Low pressure fuel hose is a lot cheaper and there's no significant pressure to worry about.

Any idea what size these lines were originally? A PO switched them, and held up to 3/8" fuel line they look smaller, but not sure if that's the stock size.

5/16" and 1/4" ID are the standard sizes. I think the return lines are 1/4" ID. Ask your parts store for a couple of inches of each and try the fit.
