79 chief chrome trim

I’m missing some of the chrome trim around the front windshield and around the back door as well. There’s a 1989 grand Cherokee that’s available to me for parts and I’m wondering if those parts would work off that vehicle.
Thanks
Jeff

The Grand Cherokee is completely different from your Cherokee. They may share a few parts (radiator cap?) but nothing you need.

That's a Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Cherokee was a fancied up mini-Cherokee.

The windshield trim will fit a full size Cherokee but you're asking about a '79 Chief rear door. I thought Chiefs were two door?

Anyway, if it's a full size four door the trim will fit.

No such thing as a 1989 Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee didn't show up until 1993.

That second picture is a Grand Wagoneer.

And the Grand Cherokee wasn't a fancied up mini-Cherokee (XJ). It was a completely new model and kinda set the standard for SUV styling for its day. You might be thinking of the Cherokee 'Wagoneer'

So to sum up model years:

Full Size Jeeps:
1963-1983: SJ Wagoneer. 4 door, body on frame.
1974-1983*: SJ Cherokee. 2 door, body on frame.
1977-1983*: SJ Cherokee. 4 door, body on frame.
1984-1991: SJ Grand Wagoneer. 4 door, body on frame. Same as the SJ Wagoneer, just with a different name.

Other Jeep uses of the Wagoneer and Cherokee names:
1984-2001: XJ Cherokee. 2 and 4 door, small unibody.
1984-1990: XJ Wagoneer. 4 door, small unibody, trim package on the Cherokee.
2002-2013: Liberty (several generations), called Cherokee outside the USA
2014-present: Latest generation Cherokee.

1993-1998: ZJ Grand Cherokee. 4 door, mid size unibody.
1993: ZJ Grand Wagoneer. 4 door, mid size unibody. Trim package on the ZJ Grand Cherokee
1999+ Grand Cherokee continues over several generations to current lineup.

* I've never seen evidence of a 1983 SJ Cherokee being titled and sold as a 1984 model but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. Every resource says 1983 is the final year though.

Just to note the only thing chrome on these Jeeps were the name plates. The mirrors, wheel caps door handlez. Everything else is stainless steel. Anodized alluminum like the bumpers. And of course the fake chrome on the plastic parts.

Not sure if the older ones were chromed bumpers but yea
