stock electrical connectors

Post by refinemrh »

I am working on rewiring my 83 Cherokee. I purchased a complete set of wire harnesses from Zach at Z&M. I wanted to see if anyone new the mfg and where I can purchase these connectors -

Do you just need the wire terminal or the connector and terminals? From the picture that you took, it appears to just be a Pack-Con I type connector. You should be able to reuse the connectors and use a removal tool to take out the old ones.

I need both. I am missing some of the connectors/terminals or they are broken.

I searched pac-con 1 and found the terminals but not the plastic housing.

Any info on where to source these would be appreciated

Do you need just the two pin and 3 pin like pictured? If so, do you need both the male and female ends?

I will look through my inventory tomorrow for you on the three pin connectors. If you can post a better picture of the two way connector, I may have some of those on hand. The three way connectors I believe are not kept in stock in most every vendor I use or know of. I should be able to get you a part number tomorrow though. I just need to go out to my shop to get the part numbers.

That would be great. Thank you so much for checking. I hope this is not too much of an inconvenience.

I have the two ways in my inventory. If you can let me know how many of the three way types you need, I can check to see if I have any used 3 way male and female types still on a parts harness. Here is a picture of the two way types I have. Image2waypackcon by Joshua Oman, on Flickr

I definitely have three of the male and female two way connectors. I will see if I can find two of the three way male and female connectors.

I could not find any spare 3 way connectors. I do have enough brand new male and female 2 way connectors. For the 3 way connectors, if it helps. The part number for the female connector shell should be 08905205 and the male side should be 08905222. They are both made by Aptiv who used to be Delphi.

Why do you need those specific connectors? If the harness you bought replaces the original, it should plug in to your existing devices. If the harness did not match the existing connectors, I'd use WeatherPacks or something similar. There's nothing sacred about the original connectors.

I completely agree with Tim. If it doesn't plug into a specific component or device and just has a male and female connector end that connects the two wires together, you can pretty much use anything. I also like the weather-pack connectors for regular builds.

I appreciate the feedback. I am using weatherpack connectors in other areas. I like the low profile nature of these connectors for the dome and courtesy lights.

If you are looking to keep the Pack-Con, you could probably go with a 4 way in place of the 3 way. The 4 way connectors are much easier to find than the 3 way Pack-Con connectors.

Maybe release the pins from the 3-way and put them in a 4-way? No need to crimp or solder then.

I used the ZM harness and it was MOSTLY correct, but there were a number of instances where the connectors didn't match up. Am assuming that at some point there was some work done on my '84 because I saw chryco era connectors. Just swapped out with weatherpak and was fine.

If you're able to have a chance in keeping it original though, please do! I had a head scratcher. Don't be the future DSPO.
