PROJECT SJ715

Post by Dasbeef »

Hello y'all
My names Rusty from Va and I have an 83 Cherokee. Last February my jeep was rear ended pushing my axle almost to the back of my seat and crumpled the quarter panel. I landed on fixing it back but after 6 months of waiting on a quarter panel I had a different idea. I had owned a M715 before and kick myself for selling it and have wanted to build another one since. So I give you the Sj715.....i did NOT got out and chop up a m715 I bought the parts separately, the only thing I have modified is the bed and a few other little things so don't give me any crap I've heard it all lol....so this is where I'm at 83 Cherokee Chevy 454, sm465, np205, 14 bolt rear shackle flip stock springs and a Chevy Dana 44 front high steer with 4" rusty's springs...can't afford a Dana 60 right now sorry...anyways nice to meet you and here are some pics....

Interesting. I would like to see some shots of the interior. I have seen J-Trucks converted but never a Cherokee. I like it :)

It's not to bad if you have a whole front clip to swap, but if not it's a lot of hidden bolts but not bad just time consuming

The only bad part also is everything is 24v on a m715 so I will have to switch the headlights out and re wire the turn signals

I think it looks awesome, very mad max. How did you graft the 715 bed to the Cherokee body?

VERY cool looking! And clean, too. What did you do (or are planning to do) for the rear tailgate?

The M715's can run some seriously large tires. You'll love those large wheel wells.

I can't tell, were you able to keep the big storage area under the front end of the bed?

it wasnt easy but not bad, the quarter panels have straight enough body lines in them i just had to cut straight and figure out the height of the bed sides after i bobbed the. putting the j10 cab back to the existing door jam helped out a lot and made it easier to line up to

i will get some more picks but i notch the square ends of the bed to fit the stock tailgate so i can still use the glass. looks pretty good i think
