I went there because they were recommended. I don't know if I was a unique one-off problem or what but after all the issues with them taking more than twice as long as they said the would, not ever calling me once the entire time, and not completing the work we agreed to I'm not going back.
I did the "oil line" mod on my 401 and regretted it. I don't know if it was the reason the crank walked, but when I pulled the engine, the rubber hose that was installed to the rear journals was bubbled up and appeared to be no good. I suspect that unless you're going to race it at Bandemere, you don't miss it.

Let me know if you find another place. There don't seem to be many automotive machine shops in the area.

The pushrods are finally here. I needed to measure for them since the block was decked. So final assembly and painting can commence this week. This weekend the engine and transmission get mated together so I can do the tranny cooler plumbing and some wiring. I'm setting up the lockup torque converter to work like a stock Chevy so I need to wire the vacuum switch inline with the +12V supply. I also have to modify the factory plug to connect to the aftermarket shifter for the neutral safety switch and the reverse trigger on the shifter linkage. I should be ready weekend after next to get the engine stabbed back in.
It's a good thing I double checked the cam timing gear when I was swapping out the cam dizzy gear. Lots of casting flash. Not enough to block the oil flow but more than enough to restrict it substantially.
But it's all together now and the paint is drying.
Things are looking to be on track for stabbing the engine in Saturday or Sunday. I have Friday off to complete the details if I don't get them done sooner.

I'm sort of dreading the next couple of days. I have to rebuild the vacuum system for emissions...
I also just realized I don't think I have a factory stock air cleaner so I may have to buy one. I'll have to take another look through the garage but I think all of my spares went to the scrap yard before I moved.
