I looked a little more closely at it and it has flat blade screw terminals around the edges that say: Speed Adj, Centering Adj, and Sensitivity Adj.
UPDATE: After searching for "Speed Adj, Centering Adj, and Sensitivity Adj, I came across this thread at IFSJA. Seems it is for the cruise control after all.
This is what happens when people put the wrong size fuse in.
After replacing fuses I got heater function and the AC fan is now blowing but it is not blowing cold. I can hear the compressor turning on when I adjust the AC temp.
Question: How would you know if the previous owner had converted the R12 to R134a? I know they aren't compatible so I don't want to screw anything up if I attempt to recharge it. Suggestions?

This is what my compressor and fittings currently look like.
I can see the " S " stamped on the side of the compressor at the top. Does that mean that's the low side? Also, where do I look to see what brand of compressor it is? The whole think looks like it's been spraypainted silver at some point.

Cool, thanks. I guess I'll go and pick up one of those home recharge bottles just to see what happens. I'd be amazed if there wasn't some sort of leak somewhere in the system.
Kind of sounds ridiculous, but what are the most common points of failure in a 32 year old Jeep AC system?
There are two coolant temp override switches. The one that engages at hi temp can be omitted. It's only purpose is to bump up timing/idle speed when engine is hot.

The air pump has been disconnected (PO took the belt off of it). Emissions are not checked here in Texas on this old of a vehicle so I am inclined to leave it non-functioning. Couple of questions concerning it though:
1. Why leave it there? With no belt, wouldn't it be better just to unbolt it and remove it from the engine bay?
2. What hoses can I eliminate with it? I colored the hoses coming out of the air pump and the little smog canister thing. I would think they could all be removed but would I need a plug or something? Maybe someone could take a look and let me know if these hoses can come out.

You can take the pump off. Save the small brackets some one on here may need them for a re smog. You can take the hoses off and cap the check valve, you can un screw the check valve and cap the air tube or you can unbolt the air tubes and replace the bolts with holes with regular short bolts of the correct size.

I was going to get a quote from Alcan on a set of lift springs, but does anyone have the measurements for a stock Wagoneer? I'll get under the truck sometime this weekend, but I wanted to have something to compare to.
I would just call Alcan, I bet they have you dimensions on file. You may need to give them a purpose and expected weight so they can custom build your springs.
I replaced the power steering pump because the old one looked like someone had attacked it at some point with a hammer. Went together ok. Pulled the pulley with the pulley tool and reinstalled on the new pump also with the tool. I had the engine idling last night and was working the steering wheel back and forth to get the air out when I heard a loud clang and then bad noises. Shut off the engine and found the pulley had come off. The belt was all twisted up around the fan. Anyway, I obviously need to reinstall a pulley, but can I use the same one? Now I feel like it's just going to come off again. It was just a friction press sort of thing and I'm wondering if they make one with a set screw or something. That would at least give me some peace of mind.
I believe the box is for the cruise control. I have a black one in my 83 wagoneer as well but it appears others have a yellow one. Should have a speed control adjustment on it.
The port attached the the thermostat housing is the Cto. It is available from A few places. http://www.allpar.com/fix/EGR.html http://www.drbob.tqhosting.com/tech/cto.html
