At least one thing was always a factory standard.

Who needs comfort or safety anyways?

I did pick up a bit more than the roof, but mainly I just went for the roof. I am addicted to grills and pie plates so I couldn’t pass them up. I snagged the fender emblems, too.

Wow, who knew there would be so many passenger side visor delete plates!? Having the passenger’s side be an add on is actually kinda funny by today’s standards. I wonder when Jeep stopped doing that- maybe when AMC took over?

I also snagged another vintage canopy. It will need to be modified- but what else is new?

I assuming with your addiction to the grills you wouldn't part with one would you.

I’m getting bad at taking pics when I should. But here’s the canopy:

These are screen shots from the ad:

Saw these today at the Swap Meet:

If you look closely at the above pics, you’ll see two NOS Willy’s doors in the cab sandwiched between a fender and another door.

Cool stuff! That gemtop warehouse used to be about ten minutes from me along I205.

Gemtop did great stuff. This particular canopy is ALL windows- so you can see what’s around you. Much better views than the previous 2 canopies I’ve modded. This is perfect for this build because I’ll need to see what in the heck is going on around me with four doors.

The Willy’s guy had more people looking at his stuff than then anyone else in that whole section! I exchanged contact info with three other jeepers while looking at his NOS stuff.

Haha, I’d love that and they’re out there, but most seem disproportionate in their dimensions- I’d have to build it so the 3rd and 4th door are more like 1/2, or 3/4 the width.

I’m getting ready to slice into the white top and this rolls out:

Edit:

It’s sliced and dice, blasted with walnut shells, wire brushed with the angle grinder, wiped down with solvent:

Two ways to mock it up:

A) Image this way is brow/front side forward. The gap is too much!

OR

B) Image this way is reversed- brow/front facing rear. The gapS are too much! Yeah, capital S on that because it would require modifications on both sides this way- or so I believe.

Option A is the way to go because the gap from the back edges are closer together in spacing, and that will require less modifications to the sheet metal to join them all together.

Without the final piece, though, it is just a guessing game.

This does remind me of the time I built a cowl induction hood for the Panel Delivery Wagoneer- this roof mod will be similar in construction to that.

Labor Day weekend is allowing me some time to get back to this project:

As soon as the firewall and bottom side of the floor pans are cleaned up, I can mock it all up on the Chevy frame and see what exactly I’ve got, or not. It’ll be a major hurdle just to get it cleaned.

The firewall is painted. Now I just need to figure out how to get underneath it so I can scrub and paint the underside.

Image

Once it cures, I may scuff it up and get another coat on it.

Get the roof done and you should be able to roll it 90* on your cart so the nose is up.
It's looking good...

Real good progress! Keep it up. Firewall looks great and looks like you have a very, very solid cab, free or rot.

How hard was it to graft the brow onto the Wagoneer windshield frame?

That would be nice. The roof is waiting on the last piece to wrap it up.
