what color is thi? 1980 wag

Post by Mickfluff »

I am looking at this wag next week...its a 1980 Doesn't look like a faded

spinaker blue? Needs wood grain kit and paint... rust area patched with fiberglass. Is that bad? If I am to repaint would one likely remove fiberglass and replace with metal? Any idea a decent budget for decent paint and new wood+vinyl? 10K or closer to 7500?

thanks all....

This color is much more common on the CJs. I don't think I have ever seen it on a Wagoneer Limited. I have seen it used with Navy Blue tutone application on Wagoneer Broughams (no wood grain).

Great color! as far as i can see it's not metallic which should be less expensive to paint. A decent paint job will set you back 3-5k USD depending how much prep work you have done. Fiberglass in my opnion is a big no no. Always replace with sheet metal or, if available a used or aftermarket repair part/panel. New "wood" is available at Team Grand Wagoneer which looks actually quite good although it's not a perfect match, the profile is slightly off. For the vinyl i have a , not secret tip:

This is a complete roll of ORIGINAL vinyl for one car which will absolutely "Pop" on the light blue. Don't be fooled by the aftermarket stuff, it looks decent but in the end nothing beats original. The guy will take a best offer and already has it for sale for a month. So i think you can end up around 7500 although FSJ are notorious for draining wallets...
