Wrenching on the Cherokee earlier in preparation for the new motor tomorrow I found that the brake booster is leaking a little. Nothing serious but its definitely making me think about replacing it.
How hard is it to switch? New power steering lines and???
Any good write-ups on a junkyard setups would be appreciated.
Your brake booster should be vacuum powered. Not sure how you can determine a vacuum leak without an engine installed and running. What exactly is leaking? and from where?
No vaccum leak, I am loosing a few drops of fluid per drive from the flange in between the master cylinder and booster. I am wondering wether it would be worth my time to rebuild the old unit with leaking seals or swap to a new master and Hydroboost.

I'd just replace the MC. The vacuum booster would be suspect if you had a hard pedal or it hissed, but brake fluid is coming from the backside of the master cylinder, not the booster. The booster is simply receiving the leaking fluid. Simple fix - buy the new MC, bench bleed, install, bleed the brakes, done.
I would not rebuild the MC - I'd buy a reman or new. No telling what the bore condition is on your current MC. Replace it.
