Rod bearings

Post by 68glad »

Is this normal or acceptable for the bearings to rotate slightly. The notch in the rod and cap are deeper than the notch protruding from the bearing allowing it to rotate. Seems like one or the other should be bigger or smaller.

Yes that is normal...when you torque the cap down it will "crush" the bearing ever so slightly...this crush keeps the bearing from spinning...this is the reason why it is important to get your rod big end resized during a rebuild. The improper "crush" will allow the bearing to spin...instant rod knock will result.
