Is there an option somewhere I can click to make links open in a new tab/window ?

You have no idea how requested this is. And why the guys that code PHPBB do it this way is beyond me. I REALLY wish there was an easy way to do this.

And there are mods to do it, but those mods make upgrading difficult. So I have not yet decided if I want to.

In the mean time, just right click the link and hit "open in new tab".

You can do that in your browser. I right click, choose open in a background tab ( I use Opera on Linux)
