Couldn't source a big enough pitman arm remover locally.

Post by UKJeeper »

So I made one. (Yes it's rough, yes my welding sucks. In my defence i was welding outdoors, in a breeze, using a pub gas bottle).

Needed to swap a '79 SJ steering box into my '91 YJ as it was leaking. Had some 1/2" plate lying around along with a tube leg from an old cafeteria table, and came up with this. Put it on a 33 year old arm, cranked it down, liberal WD all over, beer break, then a few taps on the bottom of my puller, and the arm slid right off.

Attached it to the YJ drop arm, repeat.

Put the drop arm on the SJ steering box, bolted to the frame, steering rod connected...

...and found that the hose fittings are different. Not a massive deal. Currently working on resolving that.

Replaced the input seal on the YJ box, but must have noobed something up as it leaked worse than before. Ordered another one and will repair my other YJ box.
