Chevy swap radiator

Post by thej10guy »

Well I found a little something today. Ran across a post on Facebook saying that a guy put a 62 impala radiator in his fsj and it was pretty close dimensions. It so happens that my dad has a 64 chevelle, which shares a radiator with impalas (oddly enough) and it has electric fans and everything. Image
Went out to the shop to look at it, and it fits like a glove. We needed to make extender brackets from the outside of the radiator to the radiator support but it was really easy. So now I need to buy my dad a new radiator for his car since I stole hisImage. In the process I will also buy the same radiator for my other truck because it works so well.

These radiators, with the electric fan and fan harness, are $230 on amazon. On my truck with the location of the bottom radiator hose, the regular fan is too big to the point that it hits it so they don’t work. Overall really happy with this find, and much cheaper than the $460 novak radiator I was thinking about buying.

Here is a pic of what we did to extend the bracket. It is a 3” wide piece of aluminum that we bolted to the brackets. Worked out really well.

And here is a link to the radiator:

Nice! Have to remember that if I need another radiator. I’m running one for a 67 Camaro/chevelle.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.
