Chinesium Amazon carb ?

Post by Moparmikeo »

Working on the 82 Wagoneer, carb (2150) has been rebuilt, but still has starting/idle/drivability issues pointing to a worn carb body. I See a number of 2150 "replacements" on Amazon for 100 and under, with near 5 star reviews. All the ports look to be there, the 2 differences I see are:

1. Bowl vent on top front of the carb points to the right (passenger) side, rather than forward

2. The carb on the Jeep has the altitude compensator, the replacements (even the name brand ones) do not. I live in SW PA, and no plans to take this through the Rockies!

Anyone have any real world experience with these?

No problem. Sadly it happens at times. But I cleaned up the dupes.

For the carb, being so cheap is certainly worth a shot. I have no experience with one of those. And it likely isn’t as good as a Holley replacement or the like. But maybe good enough For those on a budget.

I’ve used a bunch of the Chinese 2150’s with great success.
The bus I ride is so short it is a yellow Smart Car full of squirrels, monkeys and clowns.

I have one of the knock off 2150's on my '84 GW feeding a 401 @ .030 over bore, and it does good. True it does not have the HA comp on it, but it does as good as any carb so far I am running. Easily tuned, and came with .049 jets, which I had to change out for better feed to my engine until I can get a 4 bbl setup together.
But in a nut shell, it performs well enough to have plenty of power, and easily keep up with traffic on the interstate.

The Chinesium Amazon carbs do not have the 2 stage power valve, or the provisions for it. I did luck out and find the piece of damaged choke linkage, and straighten it out and get it properly adjusted. Runs about as good as an abused AMC 360 could be expected to!
