Atlas Twin Sticks

Does anyone have a pic of Atlas (or other twin stick) shifter mounted? I'm trying to get an idea of how best to do it.

I was hoping to have a jumpseat in the middle so a third person (kid) could ride along if needed. Trans shifter will be on the column.

These are during the install on an 83 Cherokee with a TF727 and Atlas 4 speed. I figure the pics on the trans cover will be more helpful. I am a bit limited because I can't burn metal. It took me a day or two during the overall installation to determine the mounting positions, it's tight. My buddy down in Tucson who has skills built a mounting platform for his.

how is your location as far as reach goes? is it comfortable to shift? I'd like to see your buddy's platform...I was thinking something like that. Thanks!

The later trucks with drivers drop are easier to keep the sticks in a more neutral location for the jump seat. If mine was column shift and I had a jump seat I would have no problems with it being used, especially if you have one of the narrower shifter options than the straight universal one that I have, more like what will e has.

The twin sticks are reachable while moving. Which is what you want for the main Atlas TC because it shifts best when moving.
The reduction drive shifter requires me to lean over a bit to reach. The shifting of the reduction drive, which is a planetary gear, requires the truck to be stopped and the transmission in neutral. So I don't find it too inconvenient that it is 'a bit' out of reach.

My case is 2.0 with the reduction gear being the standard 2.72.

My usual operation: I drive around rear only in normal 1:1. When I hit the trail I engage 2.0 rear only by rolling slowly, transmission in neutral and then move shifter. Transmission back into drive. Once I have the rear in low I can shift the front in and out of low while moving with the transmission in drive. I find a bit of throttle followed by letting off makes the shift of the front a bit smoother.

Mine is a 2 speed 3.0. I run it the same way minus the 2nd reduction

That's a very clean install cpfeifffer. Is it close enough to easily reach?

I'm also curious, I have a 700R4/Atlas with the universal cable mount shifter and need to mount it after the body goes back on the frame, did you mount yours threw the small tunnel cover on the front passenger side like in this photo, looks like it worked out well.

I do have to lean over a bit to reach it, but it is not at all hard to do.

I tried to get it to match up exactly with the existing hole but it is still a little bit off. I used the Advanced Adapters universal shifter, part number 303001R. The extension tube that comes in that kit was only 5.5", so I had to order a longer extension tube, longer links, and a longer allthread rod. See highlighted parts.

Maybe the mounting is farther to the passenger side, so they can be involved with the driving too?
