Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I looked for them on eBay, but DANG; I now remember why I had to ditch the last 327 due to scarcity of parts. I do love the 327, though.

Ya the starter is another one you can't replace from the parts store so take good care of that. I wrapped mine in a fabric heat shield to keep the exhaust manifold from cooking it.

Good to know! Thanks for the tip. I'll hit up the wrecking yard this weekend with my son and he can pull the starter off that 327 if it's still there.

The tsm says to remove the manifold in order to get the starter out which I've never had to do. It's a tight fit, but you should be able to wiggle it out with the manifold in place.

I'll be pulling the exhaust manifolds, too! Hahaha, I am scarred for life when I kept breaking mine all those years ago.

Random 327 question: what's your idle rpms? I've adjust mine to roughly 700, but I need a tune up in a bad way.

Well with the new carb I was able to get it set at 550 which is what the tsm suggests for a manual trans.

It seems happy with that, isles super smooth and quiet.

Whoa. Nice. Mines not ready for 550. I did bring it down to 630, and I think that's the best I can get with the old wires and dist. on there now. I'll have to double check my service manual to see if it covers the 327.

Thanks!

I noticed I didn’t elaborate on how the warn bumper came together so here goes -

The bumper came from a mid 80s k5 blazer. John Cappa had a similar bumper on his j4000 and sent me detailed photos of the stock mounts which I then replicated.

The frame mounts:

I think it was the driver side that has to be notched to clear the steering gear:Image

It bolts to existing holes on the side and front of the frame:

I added 2” tube on top of the frame mounts to accommodate the body lift and also for tow points:Image

Looking real good! That's pretty much how mine mounts up...something is a little different with the square tube sections on yours and mine but it's the same idea. So different from today's stuff, right? Now I need to go through my Warn/Belleview...the old operating cables need to be replaced or maybe freed-up, if possible.

Went for a drive today, 60mi round trip without issue. Brought back an aluminum hardtop for my cj2a project.

Made about a 60mi round trip this weekend to pick up a rear Dana 44 for my 2a then to my brothers house to winch out some stumps. Worked the jeep pretty good.

I was skimming through this thread yesterday morning wondering how things were going! I’m glad all is well and the truck is pulling it’s share (pun intended).

I decided to use herculiner on the bed. I think it turned out decent. Looks better than the previous faded olive drab and rusty bare metal anyway...

That looks good in there, should be nice when hauling stuff as well, not so slick.
