What’s up everybody, brand new to the fsj Jeep world but have always wanted a wagoneer. I picked up a vam grand wagoneer and I’m lost on a few things. Anybody care to help me out? It has a 282 in it! No reverse. It runs great. I’m trying to upload pics and apparently has a j10 gladiator type grill.
Welcome from Boston. No 282 in the USA; I recall that's a VAM exclusive.
What are your questions? Guessing it's a Chrysler automatic transmission. Suggest you download the '82 TSM here https://oljeep.com/edge_parts_man.html and follow the diagnostic instructions in chapter 2C.

These grilles are plastic. Seems not to take much to break them. For my J20, I put together two broken ones to make one good one. Adapting another style of grille - whatever you prefer - is not difficult.

I appreciate that. Guy gave me a grill
For it, holding it up there I could not see how it mounted . Assuming this is a 85, where could I locate the vin
If it's like the USA model, there will be a plate riveted to the left (driver's) side firewall, in the engine bay. There may also be a sticker in the driver's door jamb.

Couldn’t locate a vin- and regarding the grill I don’t think it’s for my 85 model.
'85 was the last year for that "pig nose" grille in the US. That should be the right one, as I suspect with it being an American-designed vehicle, anything elsewhere would come AFTER the updates in the US, if not at the same time.
There also might be a plate you can see from the outside through the windshield on the driver's side. It doesn't have as much info as the plate on the firewall or anything, BUT it would have the vin on it if it's there.
Were you sold this car as-is with no title? The title should include a VIN. Since it's VAM, I presume you are in Mexico, and you'll need to register it with the state.
You should check with a Mexican mechanic to determine where to look for the VIN on a VAM vehicle. Kinda think only a dishonest seller would remove the VIN tag, if it's not present.
The grill mounts on little brackets welded to the core support. Should be easy to replicate them if they've been removed.
