76 Chief - S10 Blazer Tank install

Post by CBJoe »

Like many others I'm giving up on my coffin tank in favor of one that mounts under the rear and can actually be filled up all the way without burping back out at me. I've found a number of writeups on this and am in process of ordering the pieces and parts.

At this time I'm sticking with carbureted so will look to do a bypass regulator to get it down to the needed 4-6psi.

- 20 Gal Tank for a 1991 Chevrolet S10 Blazer Base V6 4.3L

- Fuel Sender/Pump for application
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001F ... 0DER&psc=1

- Hockey Pucks for Spacers and some tank straps.

Couple possibly dumb questions

* For the Connections to sending unit....I know the large one is a vent and I see Supply and Return....but can someone clarify what the 4th line is for? Is this another vent line for a charcoal canister?

* Should I just use normal high pressure fuel line and clamps? the connections seem to just be a normal inverted flare to push the line onto. It looks like the supply line is 3/8" and return is 5/16" (I believe).

Thanks for any input on these items.

Cheers, Joe

How are you making the filler neck connection to the tank?

76 Chief - S10 Blazer Tank install

I have an ls swapped J10 that I put this s10 blazer tank in behind the rear axle. I don't know what I would do for a Cherokee/Wagoneer, but for my filler neck we cut a hole in the bed, and for the filler itself, we combined the original j10 filler neck with some of a filler neck from a 1989 GMC Jimmy full size (another project of mine). The majority of the neck was j10, especially where it mounts to the body, and then we welded part of the Jimmy one to it because the angle of the jimmy one was less intrusive into the bed. Image

This is a picture of what we put in the truck. We used a rubber hose then to attach it to the tank

Yeah I kinda figured that was the case, I just figured I’d post it in case it’d help you or anyone else in the future looking to do a tank swap
