Are the springs on backwards? I can't remember when I put my new 4" springs on in November if they were longer one way. I do remember there was a front orientation though.
I was wondering about this too. I know the stock ones on the '63-73s are 32" from either end, centered. I would think that orientation would be determined first by whether or not the pin is centered (and thus shift the axle front/back), and second by putting the bigger bushing in the mount directly on the frame, and the smaller one on the shackle side.
This is the first thing I would check; I personally wouldn't mess with the longer shackles.
