I spy with my little eye!

Got out under the Wagoneer yesterday to take a look at the front shackles, after Cecil14 on ifsja.org pointed out that it appeared my drivers side was on backwards.

Sure enough, it is, have added to the list to take care of, when we do the suspension changes.

Along with that i noticed nearly everything on the drivers side was wet, so i took a pic to play a game.

Can u find all the leaks that needed addressing?

The red drippy is automatic transmission fluid almost certainly. The hoses for the transmission cooler in the bottom of the radiator appear to be leaking. For this, I would use an oil-rated hose, not the regular fuel hose which that likely is. This oil-rated hose is typically used on low-pressure hydraulics, like the power steering return. Your fan will throw any drippy oil everywhere, so it can be hard to localize leaks at the front of the engine.

Output shaft seal on your steering box?

Agree with tgreese on the ATF leak.

Mmm. To see little drops of oil in multiple places, that's a pretty good leak. If it's the power steering gear that's leaking, you'll see the level go down. However, the transmission holds gallons of fluid, and it could take many months for the dropping level to have an effect.

If you have to keep adding PS fluid, then it's got to be going somewhere! ;)

Yeah, I see a little drop of oil right on the end of the output shaft threads. Does not look like ATF to me. But at the same time it could also be that the ATF leak has dripped onto the steering box and then got gunked up with road debris etc and changed the color.

Best to wipe everything down and spray some brake cleaner on a rag and wipe everything really good. Inspect in a couple days. I would start by making sure that hose clamp is tight on the ATF cooler nipple. Also make sure the nipple is tight in the bung.

Wow, looking back at that sentence without proper context is interesting, lol....
