Headliner seam trim strip??

78 Cherokee 4dr -

I am looking for the strip of black plastic trim that covers the joint between the two sections of the headliner.

It (the trim) snaps onto a metal support rib running from side to side across the ceiling.

Any sources or a name for this product?

My headliner sections are good, just need this trim to hold them up in the mid section on each side of the metal support.

Thanks.

Junkyard is prolly your only hope.

Be aware that there are two pieces. The inner piece is held to the roof stiffener by plastic fir trees. The outer piece that shows pops into that.

Good luck. They're hard to find. I'd just buy one somewhere and paint it if you find one.

I've got a couple. Just dug them out the other day. They would need to be dyed if you need black though.

Anyone have the rear metal and corner pieces for the headliner?

Pretty sure I have the front and rear metal pieces, two of the middle trim strips and one of the black plastic pieces the middle trim strip pushes up into. No corners.

My 78 4 door Cherokee has one seam in the fiber board headliner. Seam is over the rear seat back.

Kinda looks like you've got the inner piece but it's different than my '84.

I could use the rear metal piece. Ideally blue, but I'll take any color.

Everything needs a good cleaning, but nothing is broken or bent.

I'll take a rear strip and the corners for it if you have them.

Kaiserman - do you still have the strips? I am missing the rear strip in my 78 Chief. Would love to be able to replace it as I am about to drop the headliner to insulate and sound deaden the roof. Currently there is a tan tape holding the two pieces of the headliner together.

Also, do you have any of the coat hangers? One of mine is broken. Not as big of a deal to me as the strip though, would rather have that.

Shipping would be to 30084. Thanks.

Do you have any pictures of them?

I actually just fabricated my own yesterday. Got a piece of flat aluminum 1/16th thick and about 1 1/2" wide. Bent it to fit up the sides and tuck into the channel on either side. Then drilled a 1/8" hole in both the aluminum and the old support bow that goes between the two halves. You have to be fairly precise and drill right on the peak of the support bow as it is rounded and does not have much surface are to drill. Drilled it in the center and two spots about 15" either side of center. Three panhead screws later I have a nice secure homemade bow that holds up both pieces nicely and should last a while. Much easier to take down and remove.

Next step is some etching primer and paint the same color as the headliner.

Will try to get some pics up later.
