lost TAC vacuum modulator, any ideas for substitute

Post by letank »

It was running a bit rich, and upon inspection one of the TAC vacuum control is gone, the one that opens the air flow to the air filter, the modulator closer to the air filter can . Pict scavenged from the net:

It is temporary fixed with zip tie to keep the flap opened

I should put a wanted part, but I have a suspicion that there is an alternate solution at the junkyard

Thank you

Are you talking about vacuum dealio(s) on snorkel?
I probably have a few sets somewhere...

Yes, TAC is thermostatic air cleaner. There are several Ford parts that are similar, but no way to determine which might work.

yes, the can on the snorkel, the one closest to the air filter holder. in fact I am missing the EGR temp sensor that reside in the air filter can, as well -picked up an 86 project, news to follow-

I'll dig around, probably have 2 or 3 sets of them, as removal is allowed w/ TBI.

If you can get me a pic. of the arm that attaches to flapper, can find the correct one as IIRC they are different depending on location.

Probably have the stupid little blue dealio as well. I have a bunch of the useless smog 'bits & pieces from several FSJ's.
