I'm in the midst of this myself. Heading to rent the install tool tomorrow. Is there a specific depth between end of crank and shoulder of balancer to tell me I'm fully seated or do they just line up flush?

Measure how long the crank snout is and how thick the HB is. Thickness minus length will give you how deep in the HB the crank end will be.

Should see a line in there from the previous installation unless it's new.

Much appreciated. Amazing what sleep will do. Depth gauge from end of crank to where balancer seats, then measure balancer shaft from the end annnnnd there's the little mark from previous install just like you said. This is also why I don't do final assembly on anything important late at night (or after multiple beers).
