Stake Pocket Size

Hi guys,

Can any one tell me what size the holes for the stake pockets are? I know they have a rounded edge around them so What would be the largest cross section you could fit in and then what would that radius be 1/4" or 3/8"? I could also use the location for the gas filler hole too.

I just got my bed back after having a place put new bed sides on it. Despite telling them several times that I wanted them in, they failed to do it. :( Nor was the filler hole put in. I scrapped my old sides when I thought they had it covered. I have a guy down the road from our new place that can do that for me as well as get it painted, but I need to get the info on the holes.

Thanks!

Was dark by the time I had time today, but should be able to do it tomorrow! Kind of sucks leaving to work when its dark, and then it being dark so early now.

So, this is funny. Grab my tape measure, walk out to the truck, go to measure the stake post holes, only to see that the previous owner had sealed them up, and I totally forgot!

So, sadly I cannot measure them for you :(

I'll be outside tomorrow and I'll grab a tape measure and some pics for you on both the stake pockets and filler hole.

Gee, Brandon I always thought you were a guy that knew his vehicles, but I may have to reconsider that now. Thanks that is funny!

Thanks Rstep, and yes any additional info would be great if Anthony. I haven't found any local examples yet. A buddy pointed me to a flatbed J-10. :-?

It's my intention to complete this thread with drawings and pictures to fully defined the issue and have it here in case anyone else needs it . I'm on a trip right now and I'm scouring the landscape for J trucks. Not that I normally don't.

I'd measure mine with calipers and radius gauges but, I covered them up with a topper a couple months ago.

Okay, not quite covered. Since the topper is for an S-10 or Ranger, it's not quite wide enough so I can get to the front-most stake holes. With a tape, I measure 2 1/8" x 1 1/4". I'll try to get more accurate numbers later today. Got everything at work. As for the filler hole, does this help? Click on the pics and zoom in to read the tape better.

measuring with calipers the holes are about .010" smaller in both directions than 2 1/8" x 1 1/4". The radius is 7/64" but I would wager that the punch used to cut them was 1/8".

Well it took me a while, and the pics are super great, but here's what I've got. I can pull the fuel filler out and get some better measurements if you need. That one's gonna be a bit tricky with the curve of the bed side.

Wow...looking at them, those came out worse than I thought.

Image

The 1" is lined up as closely as I could get it with the "edge" of the pocket.

The sun was in my eyes...my only excuse.

Tape starts on the front edge of the bed.

Tape starts as closely as I could get it to the top of the bed.

Wow, thanks so much guys! Ron, you win the precision award by delving into the hundredths and getting out radius gauges! Anthony, your filler was the style I'm looking for. I think I'm set now. I'll be getting the bed marked up tomorrow night and hopefully into my neighbors garage by the weekend. I'll post some pics of it when I drop it off.
