Ok, cool thank you. I'd do it myself, but I'm not that experienced with it plus when my daughter moved out I gave her the only computer we have with photoshop.
I like the length but would cut the bed so the wheel well is centered.
As pictured, the bed is almost the same length as the front end from the base of the A-pillar to the front of the hood. Nice symmetry.
Kinda cool looking...like a flatbed with bed sides.

Well I was going to wait but my used to be brother in law has a low mileage 305 and a turbo 400 he will sell me for 700 $. I like the idea of buying from someone I know and one I can trust. Motors complete, alt, steering pump, edelbrock intake and carb plus aluminum edelbrock valve covers.
After looking a frame schematics it appears I won't be able to retain the same length rear springs to achieve the length of bed I would like. For simplicity sake is there a particular donor I should be looking at for a short leaf spring. I plan to begin this project next week, so I'll have a much better idea of what I'll be able to accomplish with factory springs. But it appears it won't be what I want.
So I'm getting ready to pull the bed and start cutting. Should I replace the floors in the cab before I cut into the back of the cab. I imagine I should so I have a better base to start.Whatcha all think?

Yeah, start with floor. If you cut the cab before perhaps a chance of everything twisting a little.

Yeah I've already began removing and replacing the floor. However I'm only going as far back as the rear body mount since I plan to eliminate the 4" portion behind it. From the looks of the floor it rusted from the inside out. The floor support look to be in fairly good condition which is a big relief. The previous owner had over layed the bad floor and screwed it down. Pics to come. I'm tired and phones at 4%
