Turn Signals No Worky

Post by Kimbrough »

All of a sudden my turn signals stopped working. Left or right hand green arrow on the dash stays lit = no blinky. I've replaced the turn and hazard flashers in the fuse box. Fuses are good too and light bulbs themselves are good. What else could it be?

strange, if bulb lights up it is usually one side that is non op.

loose wiring behind the dash would be my first suspect, I forgot how the wiring is arranged, time to pull the schematic and trace the wires...

may be your blinker unit is bad from the new box? Never under estimate the chinese made stuff...

Do your hazard lights work at all?

Constantly lit can sometimes mean there's not enough juice to activate the mechanical flasher.

Otherwise, I'd suspect a ground fault. They can make lights do weird things.....

X2 on the ground issue. These jeeps are bad for grounds and the lens holders are plastic so that makes it worse. Try running a ground wire from the battery and touch the side of the bulbs to see if they start flashing. Also check the socket bases to see if they are rusted.

X3 on the grounds.
If the dash indicator is lighting up, this means the switch and wiring in the cab is likely okay, but the voltage cannot get through the lamp to ground.

-Make sure that all 6 lights are working and plugged in, as well. The front side markers are tied into the blinkers.

OH! I've also had sockets that were worn enough that they allowed the bulb to be inserted 180 degrees off, causing weird problems. Make sure they go in the right way.
