So i picked up this axle a while back...

Dana 60
Narrowed to ~58" wms-wms
4.56 gears
Non-selectable locker of some sort

Plan is to put it in my waggy and swith the front to 8 lug to match. Only problem is the distance between the backing plates is the same as the outside width of the springs in the waggy.

Moving the springs under the frame (with a shackle flip) is the obvious solution. However, I dont want to go higher than my current 4"lift. I'm pondering going spring under in the rear with the shackle flip (maybe 63" chevysprings too?) Would get me pretty close to 3-4" of lift over stock.

I currently run 31" with 3.31 gears and the overdrive gear is mostly unusable. I want to step up to a narrow 32-33" tire (something like 285/75-16) . I think the 4.56 gears will be a good match in my situation.

So is all this trouble worth it or should i just regear the 2 axles currently i the jeep. The bigger 8 lug brakes are very appealing as is the full float rear

Other optiins are a 60 from a 80s doge and a fsj wt front and a wheel with more backspace to fit under my nt fenders. I dont want to increase my overall track width too much ( no intentions of putting flares on but i wouldnt mind trimming mine a little)

So...any thoughts?

It's not worth the trouble. Sell that one and get something that will bolt in easier.

I agree, sell the axle and get something else.

Thanks guys. Looking at the backspacing most of the 16" wheels have i would need a spacer just to get back to stock track width. Looks like its going on craigslist.

Alternators, winches, 4x4, guns all have the same issue if you don't have any knowledge of them usually bad things will happen. Serehill
