Plan was to drop the tank replace the lines and then re-hang the tank. I actually decided to replace the sending unit and valve grommet at the same time just because I would have it out. Parts won't be here from BJ's till Thursday so I thought I would clean it up a little bit...

Ok so I knew that the floor pans needed some attention....

It's hard to see but the depression on the right side of the drivers floor looked kinda sketchy and was soft and spongy.
Image

Passenger side was sporting a obvious hole you could see the ground.

Image

Rear pan is in really good shape...

Image

Under the rotten mat and very poor caulked down paper thin repair...

Image

At least I didn't have to remove crappy repair work from the passenger side....

Image

I plan to star the repairs tomorrow if nothing comes up...

Had to cut more than the patch panels covered.... Moved the parts cherokee near the garage door so I can start cutting the additional metal I need out of it. I am not done removing metal from the drivers side... Still need a 3" wind strip down the side of the door to the rear brace....

Haven't had much time with my 6 month old and I have been working on my Cherokee. Floor pans are done. Fuel lines replaced and new sender in tank. I am going to have to replace the engine as the blow by at anything above idle is epic.

Motor is pretty much a goner. I am have located a 4.0 In a wrecked 2000 Cherokee with a 5 speed and hope to start the swap this week. Hopefully I will be driving it shortly.

Got the 4.0 and NV3550 out of the donor XJ.

Keep going back and forth on whether or not to make it a stroker while it is out. I really don't have the extra grand right now to do it. I may just throw some new gaskets on it and slap it in.

Did you end up butt-welding your patch panels or did you overlap onto the original floor metal? Or some of each? Progress looks good. My hat channel was wasted on the driver side of my truck, along with the cab mount in front of the driver's seat.

Did a little of both. You can get a air flanger off amazon for about $50 and that is what I would recommend just flange overlap and weld.

That's a very straight cab. You sure do have a lot of projects.

The picture is of the good side... I wouldn't describe the cab as straight its not terrible though. I am really only actively working on the J10 and I have really migrated back to the mother ship so I am not on here as much, and haven't updated this build thread. I was waiting on a guy to do some sandblasting for me on the motor parts for the J10 and he never came through. I finally put together my harbor freight blast cabinet and upgraded it and did it myself. I got everything painted and ready to finish putting the engine back together. I have an employee on vacation next week so it will probably be week after next when I get the motor in. The Cherokee is still a project I guess, but it gets driven 3-5 days a week 84 mile round trip to work. I just have fine tuning and interior work to go on it (may eventually do paint and body but I kinda dig the patina). The FC will get a frame off complete restoration when I get around to it (it runs and drives but I am not planning on putting it on the road till I am completely done with it).

Lot of projects is due to the size of that shop!

Nice projects on the go. I hate to be the downer but I hope you know about the downside to your donor 4.0 motor. From late 99-01(maybe 02 also) they had a poor head design and always cracked, causing internal coolant leaks in most motors over 100,000 mi. There is supposed to be a compatible head that can be swapped and save the headache but I can't remember which one it is. I think I found it in the stroker forums, but any 4.0 build that doesn't involve the 00' heads will be a reliable build.

The plans changed on the J10. I found a sportside truck that had a salvageable bed and a good running v8. Put a cam, timing set, intake, and all new gaskets and seals in and should have it in the truck next week. I have a employee on vacation or I would probably have it done this week. I actually already sold the 4.0.

I suppose since there is some interest I could update my thread over here. I am a huge fan of the sportside trucks and found one in a junkyard for $600. Got it running in about 5 mins with a 5 gal gas can. Currently trying to find a body man that can redo one side of the bed and a good fiberglass guy to do the fenders.

The bed is rusty where the fenders bolt on one side pretty bad. Both steps and the supports are missing for the steps. I tried to find a better bed before I found this one but they are a little rare....

I came across a smoking deal on a CJ6 and have been neglecting the J10 for a few weeks. I finally got around to spending some time on it. The engine is mounted but I have some work left on the cross member and will likely have to modify the drive shafts.

Transfer-case, cross member and drive-shaft are all in. For some reason the rear drive-shaft fits but the front measures too short. I'm going to put some effort into getting the front drive-shaft to slide apart farther but if it is too short I have a longer one I can shorten. Was able to use the stock cross member, just had to drill new holes for the XJ transmission mount.
