MSD 8523 Vs 8519

Post by KC87Wagoneer »

I have an 87 GW. Any reason to go with one other than the other? I like the ability to run the 8523 without the spark box. Makes is a little easier to buy then upgrade to spread the cost but is pricier in the long run. Assuming both are running with a 6al is one better than the other?

The real delineation between the 2 is MSD recommends the 8523 for stock installation & the 8519 for modified. I prefer & run the 8519 with a 6a box. I would much rather have the 8519. Long term cost if more does not add up to saving money. Buying something & then modifying it to do some thing else is not always gratifying. I would get my stuff together & wait to convert instead of going with one & changing it out altered at an increased cost. Since the 8523 is specifically for running without any box MSD only recommends them for a stock motor.\\
