My "new to me"1980 J20 Utility

Post by HOOT »

Bought this truck a few weeks back but just now getting it home. This is what my 1981 J20 was being made to look like. Never figured I'd find a factory Cab and Chassis that was turned into a utility truck. This is to be my new tow rig and work truck. I plan on outfitting the utility bed to a camper when using it as a tow rig. I'm also making a utility bed trailer( out of the 1981 J20 and already bought utility bed)to tow behind the J10 for more local outtings. High and dry sleeping and all the lock up space you need. It won't make it to Ouray this year but there is always next year.
It will be getting the 360 and 33" tires/wheels from the 81 J20 and that awful 4" lift removed. Cherokee bucket seats, razor/boobie/rhino grille(not sure which yet), J truck tall skinny tail lights and J truck rear fender flares.

and now.....

the Larch...

just kidding it's my 1980 J20

Man that looks pretty sweet HOOT. You should just have left it on the trailer and brought it to Ouray....

then I could keep it in the SW to preserve it from rusting. :-bd :-bd

I would like to stash one out west somewhere. Then I could just drive there, drive it, store it and return home. I can make much better time and alot cheaper if I didn't have the car trailer in tow. It would make week long trips very doable a few times a year. I don't own a Jeep I can trust for that type of duty...yet. Although it just may exist in that huge collection of parts I have here.

I'm actually hoping to get some time to play with it this weekend , that is if I don't spend all my time at work again. :banghead: :banghead:

Well bro I can understand trying to get some time in on the jeeps. I am in the process of checking off items from my Ouray list and that is hard just with the kids around and no work involved. I hope you do get to tinker with it.

The driving with a trailer is something I know well :banghead: I don't trust mine yet but I'm getting there. :fsj:
