As it stands now we are not going to make the meet. If I want to go to Ouray.... I have to make a road trip starting that week cross country with the family. Have fun guys and Jeff, Bob will have your stuff.

Damn, I was really hoping you would make it.

Be safe and have fun. :-bd

Is there a place for camping where we are getting together. The couple that are coming with me want to come down on Friday and set up camp. I wont hit the road until Sat morning.

That is really a tough one Jeff.
It's going to be warm unless they want to spend the time on Mt. Lemmon in the Catalinas.

In the valley proper everything will be on the outskirts of town.

A little to the north of Tucson: http://azstateparks.com/parks/CATA/facilities.html
A little South and West: http://www.pima.gov/nrpr/camping/index.htm
A little further South: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/coronado ... 2&actid=29

I think the plan is still to head down to Gardner Canyon for Camping Sat morning and come back for the meet and greet on Sunday. They could head down Friday.

I'm probably missing a few but I rarely camp here in my own back yard.

That's the plan as I know it Jeff.
Bob just left here so he will be on shortly I'm sure.
Gardner Canyon is maybe 2 hours tops from Houghton and I-10 so there's no real need to be heading out of Tucson at the crack of dawn.

We are driving down Friday, home on Monday and are up for Sat camping & Sun M&G. Bob and I talked a little while ago and maybe we would be enjoying milder temps up on Mt. Lemmon some where.

edit: Just tossing this out since I do not know the area. There are group camp spots at Spencer Canyon.

I grew up on the mountain.
Not saying it's not worth a shot and I don't care about the fees, but I can tell you this.
If you/we are not up there by Friday around 3pm Spencer will be full as will be Rose Canyon (Spencer is #1 choice since it did not burn bad in the last big fire, Rose did and it's like camping at Walmart now).
There are almost a million people in this valley and anything above 6K' is over run on the weekends, especially in the summer.
I doubt we could even get into General Hitchcock, it's lower but smaller.

Gardner is about like Silver, a little lower actually but about the same 10 degree temp difference, more at night.

I read up a few trail reports on Gardner Canyon yesterday and it sounded like an interesting drive. I am sorry I did not realize before that it is higher than the valley floor around Tucson.

We've had great luck down at Gardner canyon.Out in the sun of course it is AZ.But plenty of places to camp.
Plan A wheel and camp
Plan B Wheel and come back to town. 45minute to an hour depending on speed
I can use a good camp fire....
Be back in town before the meet and greet.I can open my place to anyone wanting a shower before the meet and greet.
Start the meet alittle later this year say noon on.
The girls will be out of town so I can also house some guest.
And just to start the jokes,Beca is in a Ballroom Dance comp. Friday night threw Saturday, but will be back and ready for the Meet.Just don't joke around her because she's going to cut your rig up and sell the parts.

The only thing lower than the Tucson valley floor is the entire Phx metro area.
