Been debating on snatching this up (no body better steal this!) I plan on doing a TFI conversion in the near future and found this on craigslist. Guy said I could have it for $100. He said he bought it off a guy that had it in an older mustang and was about 2 yrs old. So my question is......good deal? thanks for the input
Seems like an okay deal. Around here they changed the rules for some form of racing and there were at least 10 of the 6a box for $60, guy said everybody was changing boxes to meet the rules.
I have the cheapo version (Streetfire) and it seems to work well. It does away with the RPM modules so the rev limited is set with rotary switches instead. A better design, IMHO.
Well, my only thought is that MSD is not as "friendly" as they use to be. It use to be that you could send them a box and they would test it for free. Now, you have to pay to have it tested. I fully understand why...but, testing is around $80 if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, the only real issue is that you can't just drive to AutoZone and ask them to test the ignition module (like you can with a stock unit). Granted, they RARELY ever go bad. But, just one of those things you have to know walking into it.
Great box. They work well. I run a 6 no need for the limiter. Tech support rocks I have never had any issues with them. I guess they might be different to others. they have always treated me right & I've never had to have one tested. rather than send it to MSD for a few days I just hook it up & see if it works very somple. I did send one in that got wired backwards all it cost me was shipping.
