AMC 360 Starter Dimensions

Post by Harry Dawg »

Hello Folks.

Would anyone with a spare AMC 360 starter be able to measure the pinion diameter, as well as the mounting flange bolt spacing? If it's a mini-starter, thats even better.

I am thinking I might can use a 360 starter on my 327, but want to confirm dimensions before purchasing.

For reference, the power master 9000 looks like it has the right bolt pattern and pinion diameter. Unfortunatley they were no help when I asked this question on the listing.

Doesn't someone sell a starter specifically for the 327?

If you buy a starter for a 360, all the risk of making it work is on you.

Yes. I guess I just thought the 360 starter would be a nice upgrade if possible, due to the widespread availability and lower price.

At this point, I've been piddling around with 2 Prestolite starters for the better part of a month, so I probably should just get this one and be done with it.

Just ordered the gear reduction starter from Auto Electric Services.

Looking forward to getting this installed so I can get back on the road!

Pulled the spare, nose diameter at mounting flange 3.248 or 82mm, the next are a tad hard to have an exact number, mounting bolt spacing 5.267 or 134mm, and the height of the nose to mounting flange 2.332 or 59mm.
