GRILLE MOUNTING HARDWARE

Post by JERSEY JOE »

Looking for the hardware that mounts the grille center insert on to the larger grille shell. The ones sold for the 86-91 are like plastic push in pin rivets and will not work on my 85 J-20

If you go to the 81J parts book on the Tom Collins site ('81-86 book), page 7-300 shows two types of rivets for the grille. It may help to look there for a picture and part number for what you need. Jeep PNs J4007469 and J4004647.

Searching J4007469 online shows the part TGW is selling. Other sites list the J4004647; all I looked at said discontinued/NLA.

If you search online for "automotive trim rivets" you'll find lots of different rivets of this type. For example - https://www.amazon.com/Medsuo-Universal ... B0CLGPH558 - if you have a sample of the original rivets, you may find a work-alike among the various offerings. Jeep-specific stuff like this that's not essential service or drive train parts will be scarce, if available at all. Oddball marque with low production numbers, especially J-trucks.
