ATTENTION EARLY FSJers!!!!

Post by sierrablue »

If you're still using the pressure activated brake light switch, this is the last thing to get me to swap mine out. I knew they were prone to failure but I didn't realize that they could fail AND take your brakes out--I thought they just stopped showing the brake lights.

I suspect this is another example of "they don't make 'em like they used to".

Be safe, everyone!

There are 2 major differences between new Wranglers and FSJs. FSJs are meant to be both utilitarian and capable, not just capable. FSJs are also rarely initially recognized as Jeeps by the average American.

Is there a pedal switch that is known to work well in our rigs?

The same applies to the oil pressure sending units, possibly because they are of the same design. I had a sending unit fall apart on me. Lucky I noticed the large puddle of oil on my driveway. I certainly would have lost my engine had this happened on the free-way. I won’t be using one of those again.
I used to name my FSJ’s after their previous owners, I realized I had too many with five named Rick.

Dang raccoons again!

Rust is a color too.

GM brake pedal switch, same as the '74+ FSJs. You can buy one and mount it up yourself or there's a part at jeepsterman.com for the '68-72 Jeepster/Commando that works for it.
