I have a 1987 J20 with a bench seat. It has proven difficult to find a good bench seat to replace it with. I have read about issues with the trans tunnel and such.
How well would these corbeau seats work in tje J20? Anyone have experience with installing aftermarket seats? https://corbeau.com/sport-seat.html
I don't know about the seat mounts that you have for the bench seat, whether they are somewhat similar to the bucket seat mounts or not. But I know that in my Chief, the stock bucket seat mounts mounted up no problem with my moab seats. So you might have to find a set of bucket seat mounts, or fab up your own.
I have a set of bucket seat brackets if you decide to go that route. They’re out of a 70s jtruck but I don’t think the floor ever changed much over the years.
The inner driver side bracket changed in '79 or '80 to accommodate the driver drop t-cases. The other three are the same, but that one is unique to the 80s rigs.

Those should be a direct replacement for the factory brackets, at least per their descriptions. The factory brackets did not include the sliders, those were part of the seat. The floor brackets were just two pieces of bent flat stock for each seat.

To my knowledge, yes. I have 70s Wagoneer seats in my J-10. I made the original brackets work for a long time with some washers (the driver seat still didn't sit correctly), but eventually got the correct inner driver bracket and everything fits as if it were original now.

Looks like it, but you may be able to snag some on here for cheaper. But per their description, even if it's not right, they will make it right. Can't go wrong there.
Also, you may want to consider the height factor as well. I know with my seats on the original brackets it put me in a higher sitting position. I am 6' and don't have an issue with it, but I only have a couple inches of headroom now. But I like the higher driving position.
I went ahead and just ordered the Corbeau replacement seat bracket for the driver side. Mine is busted. I was going to replace it with a used one, and may still do that, but I decided to try the Corbeau. One selling point for me was the ability to order it with dual locking sliders. This will be a nice extra touch when wheeling. Also, it appears they are open on the side so I might be able to make use of the space under the seat for some quick grab items. If it don't fit or I don't like it I can return for a refund and just be out the shipping. I'll post up a separate thread comparing it to the stock setup.
I currently have the Corbeau Moab seats on the stock brackets.
do I need to drill holes where the inboard side of the seat brackets mount? Use bolts and nuts? My current bench just has the 2 mounting bolts on each far end for a total of 4 fasteners. These 2 brackets for buckets would obviously need 4 fasteners per seat. Are the provisions for those bolts/bolt holes already in the J-trucks?
